Kooyonga Golf Club
Golf Strategies, in association with golf professional and tournament promoter Bob Tuohy, were engaged by the Glenelg Golf Club to design a comprehensive redevelopment of their course in 1998. This process has been continuing regularly since that time, with around 3 holes being remodeled each year. Coupled with there placement of existing Poa annua greens and Kikuyu infested fairways with new Bentgrass greens and Santa Ana putting surfaces, the redevelopment has included there contouring and reshaping of all golf features and the inclusion of dramatic new sod revetted bunkers to give the sand based course more of a links feel. Removal of a large number of bushes from the course that blocked views and slowed down play, has resulted in a more open and spacious feel to the course. This clearing, along with extensive plantings of indigenous vegetation, has enhanced the links character of the course, whilst retaining its essential pine tree feel. Works were completed in 2004.
